The Best Natural Spot Treatment Out There - Tea Tree Oil

I have suffered with blemishes for a long time and I am always in a desperate attempt to find a quick fix.

The sad truth is unfortunately there is no such thing as an overnight miracle cure for acne, but this is as close as it gets.

This Miracle Cure is Tea Tree Oil.

Tea Tree oil is pretty much the only thing I know I can rely on in terms of actually helping reduce the size of the blemish and to help prevent scarring.

Tea Tree Oil has unique antiseptic and soothing properties, however unlike other aggravating and stripping acne treatments it is not too harsh on the skin.

Simply grab a cotton bud soaked in a small amount of Tea Tree Oil and gently pat the spot. The natural antiseptic will ensure the blemish doesn't get infected and help dry out the spot whilst also reducing it in size. (EW SORRY)

Have you given it a go?

The Trainers for Girls who just don't do trainers

I unlike the majority of my friends have never really been into wearing trainers.

I prefer a slightly more feminine choice of footwear, heeled boots is a favourite or a pair of tasseled loafers are also always a winner.

However I reached the conclusion that it was about time I invested in a pair and boy am I happy I did so.

I wanted a pair that weren't too garish and multi-purpose so I could wear them both casually and whilst going to the gym.

I found such a pair in my Nike Free Runs 5.0.

They are comfortable, stylish and are suitable for so many different occasions.

Although they weren't cheap I feel like they are a great investment piece as my first proper fair of trainers since the days I wore woolworths velcro flashing trainers back in the day (TRENDY)

In fact I am even tempted to branch out and consider owning trainer pair number 2?

Any Reccomendations?

That Multi-tasking Miracle Cream

Vaseline has been around since 1865 and in the homes of thousands of people everywhere. It has quickly become one of the most popular and essential products of the beauty industry. Although it is most often thought of as a lip treatment, this cult product can be used for various other purposes; from helping you open the stuck lids of your nail varnish to preventing fake-tan disasters.

The petroleum jelly is particularly great to incorporate into your makeup routine, due to the diverse functions of the jelly. Too often many of us are guilty to be being somewhat heavy handed with our highlighter and ending up with a shimmery, far from natural, block above our cheekbones. Try using a sheer amount of Vaseline in the areas you wish to highlight, for an oh so natural dewy sheen to the skin. A similar technique can be used on your eyelids to give your lids or shadow a slightly greasy and fashionable effect and texture.

‘The Wonder Jelly’ can also be used to define the lashes very naturally, whilst giving the lashes a separated look, something that is featured consistently on the runway. Instead of reaching for your eyebrow gel that more often than not results in a crusty formulation through your brows, try opting for your trusty Vaseline as a wonderful make do eyebrow gel, taming and smoothing down any unruly hairs.

Vaseline is also believed to have been the go-to makeup base for those with severely dry skin in the 1950’s and 60’s. It is rumoured to have been the secret behind Marilyn Monroe’s amazing dewy glow under the studio lights. This is just a few of the diverse ways in which the affordable Vaseline can be incorporated within your beauty routine and why it remains to be one of my own favourite products.

However whilst it certainly proves itself to be a product of multi-purpose, it is ironic that Vaseline is allegedly not that great being used for its original function, that being as a lip treatment for sore and chapped lips. The formula is believed to essentially act as a water repellent and is also not water-soluble. This means therefore, that whilst you may feel the initial comfort of moisture after application, in the long run the formula is in fact drying out your lips by keeping out the air and moisture, thereby in fact is counterproductive.

So what are your unexpected ways of using the cult-classic that is Vaseline?

The Best Bases for the Day after the Night Before...

After a night out the last thing I want to do is put a full face of makeup on.

However, despite how much I may want to stay in bed all day, life is not always that fair.

So for the days that I need to look vaguely presentable there are a few bases which I constantly turn to.

The things I go for are 1) something with a light coverage and 2) a hydrating formula

Paired with a small amount of concealer in the right places no one will ever know how shit you are really feeling.

My top 3 products are:

  • Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation - for a refreshingly light glow that says I was only drinking water last night

  • Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation - for something with a touch more coverage and an anti-fatigue effect for when your skin is looking dull and sallow

  • Laura Mercier oil free tinted moisturiser - for an intensive hydrating base, it may say oil free but this base is great for days when the skin is feeling tight and dry
